Consultation & Mentorship with Dr. Sophia
Over the years, I’ve built a career that merges my passion for therapy, social justice, and mentorship. Running a private practice—and later founding the Aguirre Center for Inclusive Psychotherapy—has been an incredible journey filled with growth, challenges, and invaluable lessons. Now, I’m excited to share my knowledge with fellow therapists who are ready to take their next professional step.

Whether you’re dreaming of starting your own private practice, expanding into group therapy, or creating a culturally inclusive and socially conscious practice, I’m here to support you. My goal is to help you build a practice that reflects your values, serves your clients authentically, and supports your growth as a professional.

Through one-on-one consultation and mentorship, I offer guidance tailored to your unique goals and needs. Together, we’ll work to create a practice that not only thrives but also makes a meaningful impact.
Let’s get started!

Building a Solo
or Group Practice
Running a private practice has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my career. Over the past 15 years, I’ve built a thriving practice, and for the last 4 years, I’ve had the privilege of leading the Aguirre Center for Inclusive Psychotherapy, a group practice rooted in cultural inclusivity and social justice. Now, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with therapists who are ready to take their next steps, especially Women of Color looking to build or grow their own practices.

I offer personalized consultation and mentorship to help you create a private practice that aligns with your values and professional goals. Whether you’re just starting out, expanding, or refining your approach, I’m here to guide you.

Some of the topics I can help you with include:
-
Starting or expanding your private practice
-
Clarifying the focus of your practice
-
Building a culturally inclusive and socially conscious practice
-
Creating and growing a group practice
-
Finding your professional niche
-
Transitioning from insurance-based to a self-pay model
-
Developing a sustainable business model in alignment with your personal values

Exploring barriers to financial success, including possible limiting narratives you may hold about money and privilege

Expertise in
Group Therapy
As a Certified Group Psychotherapist with extensive experience in private practice and organizational settings, I am passionate not only about providing group therapy but also about helping other therapists master the art of group therapy. I’ve had the honor of leading workshops, presentations, and trainings on group therapy and private practice at local and national levels. I have been running 2 to 4 process groups consistently over the past 15 years of being private practice.

I offer consultation and presentations on topics such as:
-
Starting therapy groups in private practice
-
Growing your group therapy practice and increasing referrals
-
Launching and sustaining long-term process groups
-
Facilitating culturally responsive group therapy
-
Developing therapy groups specifically for BIPOC clients
-
Clinical consultation on group therapy dynamics from a decolonized, anti-oppressive lens
-
Developing your professional identity as a group therapist or finding your style as a group therapist

Creating Inclusive, Affirming, & Decolonized Spaces
Creating inclusive, affirming spaces for clients and colleagues from marginalized identities is at the heart of my work. As a Latina and Woman of Color, I’m deeply committed to my ongoing journey of liberation and decolonization, including unlearning the white supremacist values embedded in my education and training. I’m passionate about supporting fellow therapists and healers on their own paths toward liberation. Additionally, I offer consulting to help mental health professionals build practices that reflect cultural responsiveness and a commitment to social justice. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to decolonizing your practice, but together, we can explore what feels authentic and empowering for you and your work. Let’s navigate this journey side by side.

I offer consultation and presentations on topics such as:
-
Decolonizing work-environments, policies, and structures within your organization
-
Exploring ways to make your practice more accessible
-
Incorporating anti-racist, anti-oppressive and liberatory values into your practice
-
Creating affirming, welcoming spaces for BIPOC clients and individuals of historically marginalized identities
-
Providing culturally responsive services for the Latinx community
-
Developing a culturally inclusive and socially conscious private practice
